weddings
It's your big day and it's important that you get the ceremony that you want. By working together we will create a wedding that focusses on your journey and future dreams. And we'll have a lot of fun along the way.
funerals
The loss of a loved one is heartbreaking and stressful. It's my role to lend a professional guiding hand to help you through the funeral process.
A ceremony of love and remembrance that celebrates and truly reflects the life lost.
namings
Welcome a precious new little person into your family with a meaningful and very personal naming ceremony. It's a time to celebrate with friends and family and share the sheer joy of life that your new child has brought.
My working life has always involved getting to know people. After 30 years in the police service I retired as a senior Detective Officer. It was a brilliantly worthwhile and demanding career that taught me a lot about human emotions and how to handle them. It gave me the ‘people skills’ to manage situations and the ability to support people through times of stress.
After leaving the force I explored my creative side. I gained a BA in professional photography and developed a second career specialising in documentary, portraiture and weddings which I absolutely loved.
Similar to my approach as a celebrant, I wanted each wedding to be a collaboration. That joint planning allowed us to create the photographs that truly reflected the couples’ wishes and capture their special day. Many commented that my relaxed personality meant it was like being photographed by a member of the family.
My documentary “Voices of Experience” focussed on the often forgotten older members of the community. The project included interviews with the participants aged 85-106yrs covering their personal lives, social changes and an honest discussion on death. The project was exhibited twice in Edinburgh including as part of the NHS Lothian Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme in 2017.
After eight years it’s time to move on and becoming a Celebrant is both a new and rewarding challenge. It allows me to continue to meet interesting people, make new relationships and to be a guiding and supportive hand through the ceremonies.
It’s been a privilege to meet with couples and families and plan their respective weddings, funerals and naming ceremonies. It’s my role to be supportive and ensure that each ceremony is truly meaningful and reflects their wishes.
